Busy Week

I hope everyone enjoyed their 3 day weekend!  The weather has been great and hopefully we won't have too many rainy days this week.

Please check your Wednesday envelopes this week for our new Yoga program information.  Each students needs to have permission to join in on the yoga class.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Last week was a lot of fun!  We were busy, busy, busy!!

Thank you so much for all of your help with the 100 Day Mystery Bottle.  The clues were great and the kids had a blast trying to solve what was in their bottles.

We also finished up our activities with Penguins...

This week we will be moving on to Whales!  If you have any great books or information about Whales please feel free to send it in.

100th Day of School, Jumprope For Heart, and Penguins

Time is flying by and this Friday will be the 100th day of school.  I have reminded the students to save an empty water bottle for their homework on Wednesday night.

The class will also be making a 100 Day Snack.  We will need small items such as raisins, pretzels, goldfish crackers, cheerios, or any sort of cereal, M&M's, skittles, etc...  Any small snack item that is easy for the students to count out. If you have anything at home that you can send on Friday, it would be greatly appreciated.

This Wednesday afternoon will be our school wide Jumprope for Heart.  Information went home in the Wednesday envelope last week.  Please have your child dress comfortably and wear tennis shoes.

This week we will be finishing up learning about Emperor Penguins.  We compared our heights of a real Emperor Penguin which is 4 feet tall.

We will finish up on Thursday by drawing our own penguins.

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable vacation.  We are back to school in full swing this week.

This week we will be reading The Emperor's Egg.  It's a fun story filled with facts about Emperor Penguins.  I told the students that if they had any items about Penguins that they wanted to share, to bring them in this week.
The Emperor's Egg Big Book: Read and Wonder Big Book

In Science we are studying about Rocks/Earth Materials.  If your child has a rock collection that they would like to share with the class, have them bring that in this week.

Next Friday our class will be celebrating the 100th day of school.  We will be doing a fun Mystery Bottle activity.  I am asking students to fill a bottle-An old water bottle-20 ounce preferably with 100 items of something.  The students will place the Mystery bottle in a bag and write 3 clues about what is inside.  The other students will try to guess what is in their bottle.

I will send home directions for this activity next Wednesday.  Save those water bottles if you have them or check your recycling bins for any extra bottles for students who may need one.

I would just like to take a minute to thank everyone for all of the wonderful gifts I received for Christmas. It was a nice way to start my break.  Mahalo for all of your kind words and thoughts.
