Aloha families!

This week is a full week of school.  We are counting down the days until Christmas break and getting in the holiday spirit.

On Thursday December 18th we will be having a class holiday party.  On this day we will have a student gift exchange.  If students wish to participate they can bring in a wrapped gift.  It can be an item from home that they don't play with or use anymore such as toys, puzzles or games.  Please make sure items are clean and usable for another student. If you would like to purchase a gift please keep it around $5 or less.

I will send home more information this week.

Weekly Happenings 10-27-14

Aloha Families and Happy Halloween Week!!

I know our little goblins are getting excited, but we will try to maintain business as usual this week.

Monday and Tuesday we will still get out at 1:05 to finish conferences.  Wednesday release time is 12:45.

Here is our homework page for the week:

I decided to try out some Halloween words for fun this week.

The Addition Battle game is very simple, but I don't have a card with directions.
-Turn over 2 cards.  That is your first 2 digit number, then turn over a 3rd card.  That is the number you will add to the 2 digit number.  The person who gets the correct answer first, wins the cards.

We have been working on strategies to help solve these types of problems.

On Friday we will have our Halloween parade from 8:10-8:30. Please have your child wear their costume to school.  They can wear it all day, or bring a change of clothes.

It will be a regular day of learning and we will release at 2:05.

We will be watching a movie after lunch.  If your child would like to bring in popcorn to share that would be great.  Please make sure it is popped, as I do not have a microwave.  They can also bring in an extra juice to drink during the movie.

I hope to see you all on Friday morning at the parade.  Have a great week!

Welcome To The 2014-2015 School Year!!

Aloha Families!! It's a new school year and we are excited to learn lots of new things.  This week is pretty basic.  We are learning routines and rules.  Today was a whirlwind of activity and we didn't get to most of what we had planned.

I sent home some papers to be filled out and an informational sheet about homework which will start next week. Please check your child's agenda book for the papers.

We also started our behavior chart this week.  Each day students start the day on Green-Surf's Up-Ready To Learn.  If they have a good day they should stay on green.

Students move up the chart by going above and beyond their normal tasks.  I look for great behavior along with acts of kindness to move them up.  If a child surfs up to purple----> Cowabunga!! then you know it was a FANTASTIC day!!  Students who are on yellow received more than a warning for a behavior that was not appropriate. Orange or red mean they  had a difficult day and will face some consequences.
Please check your child's agenda book each day to see what color they received on their chart.

This week please have your child read 20 minutes each night for homework.

On Friday we will be making a Friendship Salad.  This is a fruit salad that we will share.  Please have your child bring in a piece of fruit to add to the salad.  It could be a banana, grapes, papaya, strawberries, etc...  Anything that will be easy for your child to cut up and add to our salad.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me through the school office or email me.

I am looking forward to a great year!!!
