Weekly Happenings 8-25-14

Aloha Families!!

This will be a full week of school and our last week of August.  We have now been in school for almost a month and we are working on those routines and getting our homework together.  Remember to send in the weekly homework paper on Friday.

Last week our class total for homework was 99 points.  Hopefully this week we can earn more!

Here is a copy of our weekly homework letter.  You can print another one in case your child loses theirs.

This week I will be sending home an envelope with any papers that need to be signed or looked at.  Please remove all the papers.  Read, sign and return the papers in the envelope the next day.

Please check with your child to see that they bring and return their folder each week.

Don't forget to send homework binders on Mondays and Fridays.

Welcome To The 2014-2015 School Year!!

Aloha Families!! It's a new school year and we are excited to learn lots of new things.  This week is pretty basic.  We are learning routines and rules.  Today was a whirlwind of activity and we didn't get to most of what we had planned.

I sent home some papers to be filled out and an informational sheet about homework which will start next week. Please check your child's agenda book for the papers.

We also started our behavior chart this week.  Each day students start the day on Green-Surf's Up-Ready To Learn.  If they have a good day they should stay on green.

Students move up the chart by going above and beyond their normal tasks.  I look for great behavior along with acts of kindness to move them up.  If a child surfs up to purple----> Cowabunga!! then you know it was a FANTASTIC day!!  Students who are on yellow received more than a warning for a behavior that was not appropriate. Orange or red mean they  had a difficult day and will face some consequences.
Please check your child's agenda book each day to see what color they received on their chart.

This week please have your child read 20 minutes each night for homework.

On Friday we will be making a Friendship Salad.  This is a fruit salad that we will share.  Please have your child bring in a piece of fruit to add to the salad.  It could be a banana, grapes, papaya, strawberries, etc...  Anything that will be easy for your child to cut up and add to our salad.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me through the school office or email me.

I am looking forward to a great year!!!
